If you’ve just invested in a nice home theater setup, you’re going to want it to look and sound as good as it can. Perhaps you’ve bought a brand new 4K TV and it doesn’t look quite as good as it did in the store. You may be wondering how you can get your setup to be as good as it can be. We’ve got a few tips to help you improve your new home theater!
Calibration & Setup
We’ve talked before about calibrating your TV, but that’s not the only thing that needs to be setup properly. To get the most out of your home theater, try different positionings for your soundbar or receiver and speakers. You’ll want to also make sure to invest in the proper cables. 4K televisions and audio equipment both require certain cables to allow for 4K pass-thru, which means you need to make sure you’re using the right cables to take full advantage of your equipment.
Choosing the Right Content
Keep in mind that not all content exists in 4K yet. This means that your basic cable provider might be transmitting your television shows in regular HD, and while most 4K TVs are capable of upscaling and will make a regular HD signal look better, you’ll need actual 4K content to get the most out of your TV. So where do you get 4K content? Right now, your best bet is either a Blu-Ray player (make sure you get one specifically for 4K) or a streaming service like Netflix. Not all titles on Netflix are in 4K, but they will say if they are, so make sure to check.
Internet Speeds to Match
If you do go the streaming route, you’ll need fast enough internet to support 4K resolution. You don’t want your internet speeds bottlenecking the quality of your TV signal. If you can, opt for fiber-optic internet and a quality router–this will ensure that your internet is as fast as it needs to be for all that 4K goodness.
